Thomas Marx is a seasoned professional in the field of fraud examination, bringing over 35 years of investigation experience to LMW. He spent more than 22 years in Forensic Consulting at EY South Africa, holding an Executive Director role for over seven years. With certifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Forensic Practitioner in South Africa (FP(SA)), Thomas possesses extensive experience and highly adaptable skills across various industries and geographies.
Thomas has a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary interventions at client organizations, leveraging forensic technology solutions. His expertise extends to policing, complex commercial crime investigations, anti-bribery and corruption assessments, labor law violation investigations, and third-party integrity due diligence. He creates value for clients by aligning investigative efforts with individual and business objectives, fostering a culture of integrity within organizations.
Utilizing his forensic experience, Thomas assists companies in managing crisis situations and designing and implementing integrity agendas. He helps define desired outcomes and measures progress towards those goals. Furthermore, Thomas provides litigation support services in criminal and disciplinary cases, offering expert analysis, report preparation, and testimony in court and disciplinary hearings to support legal arguments.
Thomas holds a Baccalaureus Technologiae degree in Policing from Technicon South Africa (now UNISA). He is accredited as a CFE by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and as an FP(SA) by the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (ICFP). He maintains good standing with both professional bodies and actively participates in professional development activities to stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and regulations in fraud examination.
